Spelling List Directions
This year in spelling, you will have different weekly lists based on the words that you personally need to learn for that cycle. On Day 1 you will take a pretest on the "On Level" word list. The pretest has 20 words. Based on your pretest, you will then be given a personal list of words to study for the week. Your weekly spelling list will be created using the following format:
· 1-4 words incorrect: you will advance to the "Challenge" List
· 5 or more words incorrect: you will stay on the "On Level" list of words.
Once you are given your personal list, all spelling homework will be completed based on your list. Your spelling posttest will be given on Day 6 on your own personal word list.
THE LIST OF 20 WORDS MUST BE CHECKED
FOR ACCURACY AT HOME!!!
SPELLING PRETESTS ARE GIVEN EVERY DAY 1 AND SPELLING TESTS EVERY DAY 6.
Spelling Homework Schedule
Please assist your child in following the spelling homework outlined below.
Day 1:
List your 20 spelling words in your assignment pad
(have a parent check & sign this list!)
Day 2:
SpellingCity Activity
Day 3:
SpellingCity Activity
Day 4:
SpellingCity Activity
Day 5:
Have someone at home administer a spelling practice test.
Record your practice test in your green "Working With Words" notebook.
Any misspelled words should be rewritten
three times correctly for extra practice!
